Plants underwater during a high ‘marsh tide', including rayless sea aster, Aster tripolium var discoideus, and annual seablite, Suaeda maritima. These plants are resilient to complete submersion on occasional high tides but regular submersion caused by higher sea levels may spell the end for this ecosystem.
